Description
So, I'm trying to do some more drawing from observation, to help fill up my portfolio as I'm applying to some art schools with something besides sparkly fairies. So I sat in the bathroom and drew this the other day.
If nothing else, it helped me realize how much I NEED to be drawing from observation more than I am, because it was soooo hard to get back into the swing of realistic proportions. Even when I was conscious of my affliction, I obviously had a lot of trouble not reverting to my sparkle-fairy style. The eyes are huge, the lips are HUGE, and the nose is teeny.
Other than that it looks like me. I'll probably use it.
Disclaimer: I am not bashing my sparkly fairies. I enjoy drawing them quite a lot. However, I need to learn to keep them in their place so they don't spill out everywhere and infect everything else I try to draw.
and this is done in oil pastels, if you couldn't tell. I love those little buggers.

Awh. Despite the "problems" you mentioned with it for being realistic, as a peice itself it still is really nice.
The skin tones were blended nicely , and teh face is still more towards realism ( by far im sure ) than the sparkly fairy type drawings you do.
the haircut you have is really cute in this picture by the way : D.
One thing that really got me to liking the peice is that, you knew what its problems were, but still seemed quite happy with it. : D its nice to see an artist that can accept and still like. i see so many people that take notes over small problems and get so discouraged or just dont like the peice because of the problems, despite that maybe its not what they wanted or what they expected, still quite nice y'kno.
