Oak Leaf by Kecky Oak Leaf by Kecky
Guess what! this is all traditional!!! yep, it's watercolor, colored pencil, and marker, and I only used the computer to adjust the colors to more closely match the original after I scanned it. Photoshop is wonderful but there is something to be said for taking one's colored pencils out in the backyard and drawing out in the sun, particularly when one has been trapped in a dingy sunless frigid concrete jungle for the past eight months.

I was really tempted to add a wallpaper pattern or something in the background of this, but I was convinced not to when I started working on another one - when they're viewed together, the simplicity really works.

Beautiful lines.
A great concept, probably my favourite of the series, next to perhaps snowflake.

This is just amazing. The creativity involved just blows my mind. How wonderful it must be, to be able to see faces and figures in everyday objects...

This is gorgeous! I love the texture of her skin, it looks really natural. I just discovered the joy of watercolor combined with colored pencil this past weekend, it's so much fun!

wow. very impressive especially considering that it's traditional. I totally agree with you when you said that there is something to be said for taking out those colored pencils, yo!

I love the idea as well. its perfectly symmetrical!

Not perfectly!!! After I sketched in the basic shape of each curl I forced myself not to worry about making each detail match up exactly. So I made some spots a little different on purpose. :)

Interesting approach!? I suppose anything organic will happen to have differences. I will try to remember that as the final result is quite authentic looking.
