I'm rereading the Chronicles of Narnia for pretty much the millionth time, and this time around I'm going on a proper fanart binge along with. Here's the fabulously wicked Lady of the Green Kirtle, from The Silver Chair - I was worried that she didn't look evil enough, but then I realized, she shouldn't really look evil - she's so lovely and so sweet and nice and charming... until, you know, she's a giant snake about to bite your head off.
This was supposed to be a quick little sketch, done with green ballpoint pens that I was just going to slap some color on... but you know how those "quick little sketches" always turn out. Here's the original sketch: [link] pen + CS2... about 5 hours??? textures from [link] |

This is so BEAUTIFUL. <3
I love the colours, and the use of green for shading.
She looks so complacent and graceful.

Sounds like a couple of dates I've been on.
Nice work. It looks like she could bite my head off before I had an inkling of danger.

We have one really gorgeous version - it's the hardback edition with the map cover with every single illustration (in color) that Pauline Baynes ever did. I highly recommend that version if you feel like spending lots of money. If not, you can get the paperback edition - I've got that too.
